Does Spotify AdBlocker give me Premium?
No. It removes the audio and banner ads from the free Spotify desktop app. Premium features such as offline downloads and unlimited skips still need a Premium subscription.
What happens when Spotify updates?
Spotify AdBlocker blocks Spotify’s silent auto-updates so a new build can’t undo the patch. When you want the newest Spotify, Install Latest downloads the current supported build and patches it in one go.
Can I undo it?
Always. Spotify AdBlocker keeps a backup of the original files, and Restore Original puts them back exactly as they were — license or not.
What does it change on my Mac?
Only the files inside your local Spotify.app, by running a pinned copy of the open-source SpotX-Bash script. Nothing else on your Mac is touched, and you can reveal and read the exact script before it runs.
Which versions are supported?
macOS 14 Sonoma or later, on Apple silicon and Intel, with the Spotify desktop app from 1.1.59 up to the latest release. Spotify AdBlocker checks your version when it opens and tells you if it isn’t supported.
Is this allowed?
Patching the Spotify app is against Spotify’s Terms of Service, so Spotify AdBlocker is for personal use, at your own risk. It isn’t affiliated with Spotify. If you would rather not modify Spotify at all, Ads Mute and EQForge on the Mac App Store work alongside it instead.
How does the license work?
